1 King 3:26-27
Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the King, for her
bowels yerned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child,
and in no wise slay it, but the other said, let it be neither mine nor thine,
but divide it. Then the King answered and said, give her the living child, and
in no wise slay it; she is the other thereof.
Today's lesson depicts the true love and affection of a mother in that
the two women depicted in this story clearly shows who the real mother was. In
order to save the child's life, the real mother of the child was willing for
the other woman to have custody of the baby. A true mother's love!
This also speaks to the many sacrifices mothers make for their children
daily. No sacrifice or price is too great for a mother to pay for her child.
That said, today being Mother's Day, these questions come to mind, How
have you shown your mother love? Have you hugged your mother and told her you
love her? Give your mother her roses while she yet lives because you only get
one mother. A mother's love is a priceless commodity and she is a precious
jewel. She emulates the love of God, which is unconditional. She gives and asks
for nothing in return.
Mothers, we love you, we cherish you and adore you, because you love
with the love of God.
