Psalm 1:1-6
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor
standeth in the way of sinners, not sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But
his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law doth he meditate day and
night.
This is the
first of a three-part series of discussions in my attempt to highlight the
lifestyle of the righteous and how we face our enemies as well as having a
midnight talk with God as we shine bright the light of Christ in this world
that is filled with all manner of evil. That said, our next two topics will be facing
your enemy with confidence, and a midnight talk with God.
Let's begin
with a comparative look at the lifestyle of the righteous to that of the
ungodly. The righteous seek to know and do the will of God by delighting
himself in the law of God whereas the ungodly not so much. The ungodly are like
the chaff that will be blown away and condemned to eternal separation from God.
The righteous will flourish like a tree that is planted by rivers of water and
will prosper in the grace of God's love (v.3).
Being planted in the Word of God, the righteous will bear fruits of the
Spirit as recorded in Galatians 5:22-23. This is because the righteous are the
called out people of God who have been sanctified, justified and redeemed by
Christ's atoning work on Calvary's cross and are now members of God's holy
nation of people. The righteous died with Christ to sin and rose with Him to a
life of righteousness and wear the righteous garment of God's salvation.
Let us close
by saying the righteous walk according to God's way while the ungodly walk in
the way of the world, which is apart from God.
The
righteous will live forever; the ungodly is condemned to eternal death. Which
do you choose?
