Psalm 78:24
And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the
corn of heaven.
This entire psalm deals with how God guided, protect and fed His people
during their days in the wilderness. God fed them manna from heaven and water
from a rock. He even went before them as a pillar of fire at night, which made
nighttime travel easy and as a pillar of cloud by day as shield from the
torrent heat. Their shoes lasted their entire journey-nobody but God.
God is still raining down manna from heaven in His provisional care as He
provides for all our needs regardless of the need. He is still opening up the
corn fields of heaven and pouring out blessings for all those who trust and
believe in Him until there isn't room enough to receive the blessings.
God's Word is our heavenly manna and when eaten the reader wants more and
more as the taste is pleasant to the pallet. When heavenly manna is eaten it
removes the taste for evil and the sweet lust of this world that is pleasing to
the eye, but destructive to the body and soul. Whereas heavenly manna nourishes
both body and soul; therefore, eat and be filled.
A daily feeding of God's heavenly manna brings a closer walk with God,
which is what He desires. Heavenly manna buries Satan's weeds that he plants to
disrupt our walk with God.
Heavenly is nourishment for the soul.
