The Nativity Scene: Matthew 2:9:11

When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was.  When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.  And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Today's scriptures tell of how the wise men followed Jesus' star until they found Him and worshiped Him. These questions come to mind, are you following His star? It is still shining bright giving light to the world. Will you worship as the wise men did? What gift will you give Jesus? Will it be your true worship and praise recognizing that He is the Savior of the world who came to die for the sins of the world?
Follow the star of Jesus.

Prophecy Being Fulfilled: Luke 2:1-20

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Isaiah 7:14 prophesied about the birth of Christ, and as we approach the day that is set aside to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we see prophecy being fulfilled. There was a time lapse from the time of Christ's prophecy until His birth tells us that God keeps His promises and everything moves at God's appointed time.
The events that occurred leading up to the birth of Christ demonstrates the hand of God was moving to bring forth His only begotten Son. Taxation happened during the reign of Caesar Augustus and Cyrenius was the governor of Syria. Mary and Joseph being law abiding citizens obeyed the law. Pregnant as she was, still they went to pay their taxes.
When baby Jesus was born there was no room for Him; therefore, He was laid in a manger wrapped in swaddling clothes. The Savior of the world was born in complete humility.
The grand announcement was made to humble shepherds tending their flock and was waiting to see the Savior. Upon visiting the newborn King of the world, they went away glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them (v.20 partial paraphrasing).
Praise God the Savior is born; let us sing glory hallelujah.

The Prophesied Christ Isaiah 7:14

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

As we prepare for the celebration of Christ's birth, it is only fitting that we reflect on the prophecy made by the prophet Isaiah centuries before his prophecy was fulfilled.
The prophet Isaiah predicted that God Himself would send a Savior and provided the name-Immanuel which means God with us. In Isaiah's prophecy, additional details of Christ's birth were given such as His birth would be a holy conception to a virgin. Christ would have God as His Father by way of the Holy Ghost came upon Mary, and she conceived.
Another school of thought is that many had heard of the promised Messiah and waited patiently for this prophecy to be fulfilled. Isaiah, in his prediction, was encouraging the promised Christ that He would come as promised by God the Father. The people were to have hope and faith as they waited for the coming Savior Jesus Christ.
Christmas morning we will see the fulfillment of God's promise of sending His only begotten Son into the world to be the Savior of the world. A promise made; a promise kept.

Expressions of Gratitude: Ephesians 5:20

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

As we approach Thanksgiving, these questions to come to mind, how will you celebrate Thanksgiving Day, will it be a day expressing heartfelt thanksgiving to God for His love, grace, and mercy? Will we recount our blessing that God has bestowed upon us from last year this time until now? Will we thank God for sustaining us and providing all our needs regardless of the trials we may encounter? Will we come into the Lord's presence with thanksgiving of praise and worship saying? Thank You, Lord, for another day and Your bountiful blessings that are too numerous to count?
However you thank God, He is worthy of all glory, honor, and praises because His goodness surrounds us and His love abounds. More importantly, when we reflect on our lives from last year's Thanksgiving to this year's we can see God's merciful hand upholding us and His all-seeing eye watching over us, and that is praiseworthy.
Whether we spend Thanksgiving Day with family, and friends or alone in solitude with our thoughts let us give God a heartfelt thank You, Lord. Therefore, let us make our expressions of gratitude to God for His unconditional love is known to the world.

Sacrifices of Praise: Hebrews 13:15

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

As we approach the Thanksgiving season, we have set a day to offer praises to God for He love, grace and mercy for all His blessing that He has bestowed upon us and continues to do daily.
Let us be mindful of God's unconditional love, grace and mercy that He showers us with daily. Therefore, He is worthy of continued praises and thanksgiving, because God is the essence of our being from the beginning to the end. God blesses us physically as He provides for all our needs as promised. He does so willingly with a compassionate heart. God provided for our eternal lives through the sacrificial death of His Son Jesus Christ. God's actions are undergirded by love; He is love.
Allow me to encourage all to be a living sacrifice to God daily by living holy unto Him with heartfelt expressions of gratitude (Romans 12:1-2).
Every day is a day of thanksgiving.

We welcome your comments.

Love One Another: 1 John4:7

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God, and every one that loveth is born of God and knoweth God.

I am writing this morning's message with a heavy heart, because of the continued mass shooting in this country. I ask why and when will these senseless shootings end? Where did the love for one another go in this country? Who open the hate floodgates? Do these mass murderers have a heart or soul? Don't they know the innocent victims want to live?
America, this is not who we are. We are a country of love thy neighbor as thyself. We are better than all of the hate, and bigotry that is on display. We are a country of laws and justice. We must continue coming together in love as this is a commandment given by Christ. I am convinced that there are more of us who love than those who hate.
As we come to together and mourn the loss of our fellow Americans, let us continue in prayer and get closer together as sisters and brothers. We are all linked through the Spirit of God who lives in every one of us. He breathes His breath in us, and we became a living soul. Christ and Americans.
There is a phrase I say to others and especially those who have wronged me, I love you with the love of God and there is nothing you can do about it." Love! Love! The popular phrase coined by Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign, "Love trumps hate," and it does. Out of love Christ died on the cross for us.
Let us love one another as God loves us all.

We welcome your comments.

God's Peace: Colossians 3:15

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

In this life we will have troubles that often times disturbs our peace; therefore, we are encouraged to let the peace of God rule our hearts. In doing so, we will be able to face the many trial and tribulations that we are sure to encounter.
Why God's peace? God's peace surpasses all understanding. When we operate in God's peace means we have given the problem to God for two reasons, and they are: (a) God is our mighty warrior who will fight our battles and He haven never lost a battle. (b) God asks us to cast all of our cares and concerns upon Him and He will take care of them. (1 Peter 5:7). God make this request because He cares for us and is true to His promise to supply all our needs. Promises made and kept by God.
Another point of view on God's peace is that His peace is everlasting whereas man's peace is temporary.
Focus on God's love and His peace.

God our Mighty Warrior: Deuteronomy 20:4

God our Mighty Warrior: Deuteronomy 20:4

For the LORD your God is He that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

Today's message is taken from my November 2018 devotional that is available in eBook and paperback formats on Amazon Kindle. I felt the need to share this message because America, we are in a fierce battle with Satan and his evil minions who have made it their mission to destroy this country and all that it stands for. They are trying every way possible to stop many from voting who would vote the right way. I say to you, do not be afraid nor deterred because the God we serve will fight your battles. Do we vote in spite of the hindrances? Yes if we have to go to the polls in groups.
Join me in praying for God's divine intervention in this fight. We are God's people and will be victorious. Now let us look at the message and reflect on how God fought for the nation of Israel.
The writer of Deuteronomy is reminding the nation of Israel that God is a mighty warrior and that He will fight their battles only if they allowed Him to do so. This strategy applies for all today as God is the same today as He was then and will be for all generations to come.
Another point is what Moses was conveying to the people of Israel was that when preparing for war against their enemy was to take heart and have faith in the Lord God who had brought them out of Egypt. There is no army mightier than God. There was and will never be an army mightier than God Almighty. The people then and now must seek God and His presence before entering into any battle. God promised to take care of His people; He did and continues to do so. God is true to His promises and has kept them.
What does this say for us today as we embark upon our daily tasks knowing that we will be beset by obstacles as many are designed to deter and or to impede our progress? We are encouraged to seek God's presence first each day before making the journey. Ask Him to order our footsteps and we will follow as He directs our paths.
Follow God He knows the way and will fight your battles.

The Lord's Prayer: Matthew 6:9-13

After this manner, therefore, pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

I have written many times on prayer; the reasons being (a) prayer is and always has been an essential component of a healthy Christian life. (b) Prayer is our communication with God and since the beginning of time man has always prayed to his god. The Almighty God is the only one worthy of our prayers, praise, and worship. (c) Based on our scripture text Jesus Himself valued prayer as did His disciples. Jesus' disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. This expresses the importance of prayer and the disciples' desire to properly talk to God through prayer.
Jesus Himself prayed often. When He fed the five thousand with two fishes and five loaves of bread; when He was in the Garden of Gethsemane; He prayed. While hanging on the cross, Jesus prayed asking the Father to forgive them.
Another school of thought on my frequent discussions on prayer is in light of the current chaotic happenings in our society that is dominating the news prayers are needed and are being made by many. God hears and answers prayers of the righteous (James 5:16).
It is worth noting that as I interact with other Christians and lay people they too are writing, talking and making prayers to the Almighty God. This tells me that the Holy Spirit is at work as He is touching so many hearts directing them to pray and pray often.
There is a saying, "prayer changes things" and it does. The Bible bears record of the results of prayers that were made by God's people. The midnight prayer meeting made by Paul and Silas. They were released and the jailer and his household were saved. Peter was released from jail as the results of the church prayers.
Prayers are powerful and we can fight and win any battle on our knees. We are in a spiritual warfare that is being played out in high places as Satan has taken control of their person minds and hearts.
Prayer warriors, we are victorious; keep praying, because a change is coming.

Eyes of God: Proverbs 15:3

The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

This scripture verse makes a profound statement as it relates to the all-seeing eyes of God who sees all, can do all, and everywhere. There is no escaping the all-seeing eyes of God. We praise and thank Him for watching over us with His all-seeing eyes. It is a blessing to know that the God of our creation never sleeps nor slumber and we are protected under His all-seeing eyes.
With the assured knowledge that the eyes of the Lord are upon us; He hears our cry and answers (Psalm 34:15). O' What a God to have and to glorify!

Unseen Hand of God: Isaiah 41:13

Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

In light of the chaotic situations that exist in our society today will cause anxiety, but allow me to encourage all to take heart because we are protected by the unseen hand of God.
The question becomes who is this God? He is the God who is the creator of all creations and sustains all of His creations. He is the God who laid the foundations of the world. He is the God who separated night from day. He is the God who hung the sun, moon, and stars in the sky and they obey His commands. He is the God who created man in His likeness and image. He is the God who speaks to the wind and the raging sea and say, "Peace be still." He is the God with unseen hands, but yet He rules and super rules.
He is the God who holds us in the hollow of His unseen hands. That said, let us humble ourselves under the mighty unseen hand of God (1 Peter 5:6).

God's Creative Works: Genesis 1:1-31

In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. And God said; Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Over the past two Sundays, our Sunday school lessons have been taking a reflective look at the creative works of God. This Sunday we will look at God creation of man and the magnificent way in which all humanity was created.
All of God's creation was a systematic process and everything God created was good. This means God Himself put His stamp of approval on His creative works. He separated day from night; He created and set the sun, moon, and stars in place giving them their purpose and functions. All creation has a purpose and functions as God designed.
Reflecting on humanity and the complex structure that we are we stand in awe of the one and only true God. More importantly, reflecting on the creative works of God we can say what a mighty God.
We serve a God who has no beginning or end; He is Alpha and Omega. He sits high and looks low. He is the unseen hands watching over His creations.

Clam in the Midst of the Storm: Mark 4:39-40

And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?

Today in America we are in a dark place in our government lies have become the norm, hate has become commonplace and right has become wrong. Those of us who are used to right being right and the truth is what matters as well as having your character to speak for you. What we are experiencing in today's society causes many to worry and ask what has happened to the America we once knew when people spoke the truth and it mattered.
Lies, deceit, hate, and bigotry causes us to wonder when will justice be done and truth, love, kindness, and respect become normal. It seems as those days are gone forever. I am here to say, God's standards are what going to judge all evildoers and they will be punished according to His righteousness. Evildoers will soon be cut down like a tree and will wither like a green herb (Psalm 37:1).
There is calm in the midst of the storm; His name is Jesus; our mighty warrior in any battle. Therefore, we must keep our focus and our poise as we hold to the truth. Jesus is still in control, just as He spoke to the forces of nature and told the wind and the waves of the sea and said: "Peace be still." He will speak to the craziness that is emanating from the Whitehouse and there will be a calm that will resonate throughout this country.
All hope is not lost; this storm is ending. "Peace be still."

Pray For Your Enemy:Psalm 37:1-4

Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.  For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good, so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Why pray for your enemy you might ask?  We pray our enemy because as stated in our scripture texts they will soon be cut down like the grass and will wither as the green herb. We pray for our enemy because Deuteronomy 32:35 states, "Vengeance is Mine and recompense; their foot shall slip in due time; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them.’
God will bring about justice to all evil doers and His justice is swift and complete. God knows the hearts of men and He has His set time to bring all injustice to an end. Yes, God is longsuffering and it appears as though evildoers are getting away with their evil deeds but we are to trust in the Lord for His perfect timing and true justice.
What we are to do is to keep our eyes focused on God. We know God hears and answers prayers.  James 5:16 states in part, the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
That being said, we who are being persecuted are to take heed to our scripture text which states, Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
In conclusion, do not worry about the evil man, because his days are numbered. Trust in the Lord and His righteousness. We the persecuted be right ourselves.
Sincere prayers will win any battle.

Our Majestic God: Psalm 93:1-5

The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting. The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea. Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O Lord, forever.

Today's message is a reminder of the majesty of God who created and sustains everything. All of God's creations obey His will and move at His command. Even the flood waters of the rivers, oceans, and lakes when overflowing their banks, obey His command. When the angry flood waters rise to a certain peak, they cease at His command, simply because He is mightier than they are; even the many unseen galaxies is under His command. What a God!
Our Majestic God is superior to all other gods; He is from everlasting to everlasting; even His throne is everlasting.

Friends: John 15:13

Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Our scripture text provides us with the true definition of friends; Jesus Christ laid down His life for all humanity and those who accept His atoning work is considered His friend.
Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a friend as one attached to another by affection or esteem. Many of us will say we have friends, but can we measure the strength of that friendship is in need the person is there to give assistance or a listening ear? Proverbs 18:24 speak of friends on these terms; a man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. I was raised with this verse when being taught on what true friendship is. I have lived long enough to have and experience true friendship. 1 Samuel 18:3 is an example of true friendship. Jonathan was friend enough to tell David what his faults were and still the two remained friends.
Lastly, I was taught to choose my friends who are like-minded; in Christ all believers are like-minded--having the mind of Christ; loving all as Christ loved us all and gave His life for us.
What a friend we have in Jesus? A friend we can call anytime day or night. A friend we can tell all of our troubles to. There is no friend like Jesus Christ.

God's Grace: 1 Corinthians 15:10

But by the grace of God, I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain, but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

How do we define grace? The Student Bible Dictionary (P106) defines grace as the favor (Genesis 6:8); God's free and undeserved love that never quits (Ephesians 2:8). God's grace comes as His free gift that is known as eternal life through Jesus Christ's atoning work on Calvary's cross (Romans 6:23).
Being that we now have an understanding of what grace is, all believers have a personal understanding of grace being God's love, grace and mercy because justice was demanded, but mercy in the form of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior took the place of justice. In addition, we understand that it is by God's grace we are who we are and where we are. Without God's grace, we would still be lost in a world of sin and shame with no hope of eternal life after this earthly tabernacle is over.
We can thank God daily for His favor.  It is Him who wakes us daily; provides for all our needs. When we need a healing; He heals; when we need deliverance; He delivers. As the saying goes, "whatever we need God got it." Yes, I am a child of God because of His grace. We thank God for His grace.
God's grace enfolds because of His agape love.

Rest in the Lord: Psalm 37:1-40

Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.  Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

In our world today we are facing many evil challenges from different perspectives; therefore, I urge all to be encouraged, because the evilness that is being pressed upon us will soon comes to an end. I say this because as we trust in the Lord and make Him first in our lives He will deliver us from all the evil and wickedness that we are facing.
Speaking specifically of Trump and his evil regime, God will and is going to bring his administration to an abrupt end. Do we resist this evil one, yes we do praying all the way?
Join me as I pray for the safety of those children who have been separated from their parents. Lord, keep your angels around them. Lord, You reunite them with their parents. In Jesus name I pray amen.

Lost Leadership

My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

There are times when we feel that the enemy is winning the war in creating doubt, unrest, and worry in our lives; let me assure you that God is in control and the enemy is a defeated foe.
Many times we look to our human leaders who sometimes will appear to lose or will have lost they way because Satan's job is to seek and to destroy all whom he can. Our leaders are no exception. Jesus Christ our one true leader will never lose His was because He is all knowing who knows the way.
When it appears as though our leaders have lost their way, go to God in prayer asking for deliverance, guidance for our leaders and self. God is true to His word; He will deliver, and His deliverance is timely.
In choosing our leaders to seek God's guidance that He will give a leader who is willing to and will follow God's direction. Jesus Christ is the head of the church and He gives under-shepherds to lead His church, but when leadership is lost, then Christ will remove His under-shepherd because without the head the body will die and Christ will not have a dead church.
Church, look to Jesus Christ because He is the true leader of the church.

Created For Good Works: Ephesians 2:10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Our scripture text answers the implied question of why are believers created, which is to do good works of our calling. All believers have a calling on his/her life and are to walk worthy of his or her calling.
Believers are called to serve God with our time, talent and tithe as well as serve those who are in need. Believers are to proclaim the gospel to all humanity of every generation and in every nation. Christ promised His return would be after every nation has had the gospel preached to them. There are some nations where the gospel is not being heard and the people are longing for to hear the gospel. That said, there is much work to do in spreading the gospel to those nations and its people so they too can become saved and spend eternity with God; it is God's desire that all be saved.
Are we working the work that God has called us to do? As a church, are we reaching the unchurched? As a church, are we the city that is set upon a hill calling lost souls to come ashore into the sweet sanctuary of God's salvation? As individual believers, are we being the shinning light of Christ for others to see?
As believers we are created in holiness to do good works.

Victory in Jesus: Isaiah 54:17

No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.

The above scripture assures all believers that we are victorious and there is nothing to fear. The Lord assured us that no weapon formed against us will prosper, because He is Lord and will protect His people.
Believers, we are the righteous of the Lord; therefore, fear not, boldly stand firm on the Word of God in the midst of these trying times. Evil will soon be put down and peace, love and calm will once again be the norm.
Victory in Jesus.

God's Love: John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This scripture is considered the Golden Text of the Bible in that it depicts the heart of God and the depths of His love for humanity. He gave the very best that He had to reconcile man back to Himself.
The question now becomes, why was this necessary? It was necessary because all humanity had sinned and come short of God's glory and there were none found righteous. What God did was pronounced the whole world guilty before Him. God's love would not allow Him to leave man in lost in sin; therefore, He sent His only begotten Son to die for the sins of the world. All who believe in Jesus Christ shall be saved and spend eternity in the presence of God.
There is no greater love than a man who would give his life for another so that the forgiven can and will have everlasting life; God's agape love. God's love is unmatchless.
What we know about God is that His promises are sure and have been and will be kept. God promised a Savior and forty-two generations later Jesus came and redeemed man back to God the Father. Christ took the believer's sins and gave us His righteousness; quite an exchange.
It is in Christ that we as believers live because He lives.

Life In Christ: Proverbs 8:35-36

For whoso findeth Me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. But he that sinneth against Me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate Me love death.

Today's text presents a profound but powerful message as it relates to eternal life and death. There is two courses for life one either love God or hate Him by rejecting His Son Jesus Christ and living according to one's own rules. A person's own rules usually include the ways of society which is contrary to those of God.
The question now becomes, which do I choose life or death? To choose life then one demonstrates his love for God where there are blessings and favor. The ultimate blessing for choosing God is eternal life. Also, in choosing life the person becomes adopted sons of God and members of His holy nation of priests. Being part of God's holy nation we as believers look peculiar to the world, but that's okay because we are the apple in God's eyes.
Whereas in choosing death the person has decided that there is no God and I am the highest order of authority and what I feel, think and or say is right with no consequences to be had; wrong on all accounts.
Allow me to close this discussion by saying, choose Christ as there is life in Him with blessings no one else can give. Choosing life in Christ is an expression of gratitude to God for His love, grace and mercy.

Christ's Message to the Church: Revelation 1:1-20

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John.

Today's scripture text is the message Christ sent to the seven churches, which represents the church age as a whole and how they are seen through the eyes of God.  The church is the bride of Christ who is to be holy as He is her husband. It is only fitting that Christ tell His bride what her shortcomings are.
That being said, this question comes to mind, church, are you right with Christ? If not the time for getting your house in order is near for we know not the day or hour of Christ's returns. Christ is coming again for His church. Will He find you as that holy city that is set on a hill shinning bright His righteousness or a building that is filled with worldliness parading as a church?
Given the falling away in many of our churches today, I ask these questions, are we living in Revelation where sin and all manner of wickedness have crept into the church? As the church, are we living in humble submission to the only wise God the head of His established church? As the church, are we wearing God's protective body armour as recorded in Ephesians 6:10-18 as we stand firm on His truth?
Allow me to close with these encouraging words "get right church Christ is coming soon for His bride-the church.
