Cry Of The Righteous

Psalm 34:17

The righteous cry and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

Today's scripture text is a testimony of God's compassionate care of coming to the rescue of those who cry out to Him. Every believer has a personal testimony of God's deliverance because when the believer cried out to God for deliverance from the clutches of sin God delivered. The young nation of Israel is a perfect example of God's deliverance. The nation of Israel cried out to God and in His due time He delivered and even made a highway of dry land through the Red Sea. In doing so Pharaoh's army was drown as they were in hot pursuit of the Israelites. God's provisional care continued during their wondering years in the desert. He fed them manna from heaven and water from a rock.

God continues to hear and answer the cry of the righteous just as He did each tine Israel cried out to Him. God's deliverance is assured for whatever situation the person needs deliverance from. God has proven Himself to be trustworthy as He changes not and desires an intimate relationship with His people. That said, we can call on God with assurances of receiving an answer. He is an on-time God. Humanity needed a Savior, in God's time His Son Jesus came to save the world from sin.

God being a God of love, peace and holy righteousness will answer the cry of the righteous.

Heavenly Manna

Psalm 78:24

And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.

This entire psalm deals with how God guided, protect and fed His people during their days in the wilderness. God fed them manna from heaven and water from a rock. He even went before them as a pillar of fire at night, which made nighttime travel easy and as a pillar of cloud by day as shield from the torrent heat. Their shoes lasted their entire journey-nobody but God.
God is still raining down manna from heaven in His provisional care as He provides for all our needs regardless of the need. He is still opening up the corn fields of heaven and pouring out blessings for all those who trust and believe in Him until there isn't room enough to receive the blessings.
God's Word is our heavenly manna and when eaten the reader wants more and more as the taste is pleasant to the pallet. When heavenly manna is eaten it removes the taste for evil and the sweet lust of this world that is pleasing to the eye, but destructive to the body and soul. Whereas heavenly manna nourishes both body and soul; therefore, eat and be filled.
A daily feeding of God's heavenly manna brings a closer walk with God, which is what He desires. Heavenly manna buries Satan's weeds that he plants to disrupt our walk with God.

Heavenly is nourishment for the soul.

A Midnight Talk With God

Psalm 4:1-8

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness; thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. But know that the Lord hat set apart him that is godly for Himself; the Lord will hear when I call unto Him.

This is the third in our series of discussions that focused on the lifestyle of the righteous; today's focus is our Midnight talk with God. While traveling through life and being bombarded with the trials of life sometimes requires believers to have a midnight talk with God with the assured confidence that He hears and will answer our cry. There is no one better to talk to than our heavenly Father and in His loving way simply rocks us to sleep after assuring us that all is well. This brings into focus 1 Peter 5:7 when the Lord asks that we case all our care upon Him.
What gives believers the assurances that God will answer our prayers? God answers the prayers of all those who have a personal relationship with Him and completely trust God in every situation, (vv 5, 8). God also hear and answer those who honestly desire His help (vv 1, 3, 6). God also answer the prayers of His people who have devoted themselves to Him and seek to do His will. See, God's people are His prize possessions who have been set apart from this world as His peculiar treasure.
Let me close by saying that some of my best talks with God are at midnight when there are just me and God while knowing that just a little talk with God makes everything alright. I often heard my late mother speak of her midnight talks with God.
Have you talked God at midnight? He hears and answers anytime you call.

Facing Your Enemy With Confidence

Facing Your Enemy With Confidence
Psalm 3:1-8

Lord, how are they increased that trouble me? many are they that rise up against me. Many there are (be) which say of my soul, there is no help for him in God. But thou, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto Lord with my voice, and He heard me out of His holy hill.

Beginning the second in our series of discussions on the life of God's people and the obstacles we face while on this Christian journey. Today's focus discussion answers an implied question of how do we face our enemy with confidence while facing sin from every side? The short answer is to walk closely with God while wearing His protective gear as outlined in Ephesians 6:11-18. This is because knew the fight that His people would face while in this world. Verse 3 also provides an answer to the implied question by stating that God is our shield who lifts up His people. Also, God is our refuge, our high tower, and our deliverer (Psalm 18:2). Given all that God is, believers can take refuge in His deliverance from every situation while knowing He will not forsake His people.

Believers can also take confidence in knowing that God asks us to cast all our cares upon Him and He will take care of them (1 Peter 5:7). God would not make such request if He weren't going to keep His promise. God is true to His Word; He keeps His promises.

Lifestyle Of The Righteous

Psalm 1:1-6

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, not sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

This is the first of a three-part series of discussions in my attempt to highlight the lifestyle of the righteous and how we face our enemies as well as having a midnight talk with God as we shine bright the light of Christ in this world that is filled with all manner of evil. That said, our next two topics will be facing your enemy with confidence, and a midnight talk with God.
Let's begin with a comparative look at the lifestyle of the righteous to that of the ungodly. The righteous seek to know and do the will of God by delighting himself in the law of God whereas the ungodly not so much. The ungodly are like the chaff that will be blown away and condemned to eternal separation from God. The righteous will flourish like a tree that is planted by rivers of water and will prosper in the grace of God's love (v.3).  Being planted in the Word of God, the righteous will bear fruits of the Spirit as recorded in Galatians 5:22-23. This is because the righteous are the called out people of God who have been sanctified, justified and redeemed by Christ's atoning work on Calvary's cross and are now members of God's holy nation of people. The righteous died with Christ to sin and rose with Him to a life of righteousness and wear the righteous garment of God's salvation.
Let us close by saying the righteous walk according to God's way while the ungodly walk in the way of the world, which is apart from God.
The righteous will live forever; the ungodly is condemned to eternal death. Which do you choose?

1 King 3:26-27

Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the King, for her bowels yerned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it, but the other said, let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it. Then the King answered and said, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it; she is the other thereof.

Today's lesson depicts the true love and affection of a mother in that the two women depicted in this story clearly shows who the real mother was. In order to save the child's life, the real mother of the child was willing for the other woman to have custody of the baby. A true mother's love!
This also speaks to the many sacrifices mothers make for their children daily. No sacrifice or price is too great for a mother to pay for her child.
That said, today being Mother's Day, these questions come to mind, How have you shown your mother love? Have you hugged your mother and told her you love her? Give your mother her roses while she yet lives because you only get one mother. A mother's love is a priceless commodity and she is a precious jewel. She emulates the love of God, which is unconditional. She gives and asks for nothing in return.
Mothers, we love you, we cherish you and adore you, because you love with the love of God.

Vurtuous Woman

Today's message is taken from this month's devotional titled Unconditional Love and this being Mother's Day week I felt led by the Holy Spirit to focus on Mothers. Thanks for allowing me to share. Please share with others.

Proverbs 31:10-31

Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.

Verses 11-31 answer the question of who can find a virtuous woman, which thoroughly provides the definition of a virtuous woman. The description provided also describes a Christian wife and mother. These verses also describe the ideal wife and mother whose life is centered on her family and God as well as doing what pleases both is her first and foremost mission. She is faithful to her husband and God as she knows her husband is submissive unto God and she is submissive unto him in reverence and love.
It is worth noting that a virtuous woman seeks to serve others as well as God and her family. A virtuous woman makes sure that the needs of her family are met as she is resourceful in providing for her family whether it is materially and or spiritually. This character trait also applies to community needs. She seeks to serve her community in the same loving manner.
The woman described in our lesson text gains her strength and grace from the Lord as she knows He is the true source of her being and her ability to faithfully serve her family and community.
A virtuous woman (Christian wife and mother) is priceless and is a precious commodity. She is to be loved and cherished all the days of her life. A virtuous woman is the crown jewel of the family and the apple of God and her husband's eye.

Jesus Our High Priest

Hebrews 8:1

Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum; we have such a high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens.

If the question was raise, what makes Jesus our high priest? The answer is found in who Jesus is and what He done reconciling man back to God the Father. Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God who was with God in the beginning and became flesh as the final revelation of the Father. Jesus took on the sins of the world by sacrificing His life for the life of many. He was the perfect sacrifice that needed no atonement because He was the priest and the sacrifice.
Jesus Christ is in heaven at the right hand of the Father making intercessions for all believers. Jesus mediated a better covenant through His shed blood, and with this covenant all believers have constant access to God the Father. God the Father bestows His grace upon all believers through the regenerating work of Christ (John 3:3).
Jesus as our high priest can sympathize with believers and will aid them in any situation as well as help them to overcome their temptations (2:18; 4:15-16). We need His help because Satan is busy.
We can conclude then that by the works of Christ makes Him our high priest who is Alpha and Omega; He knows all and supplies all our needs.
