Psalm 119:11
Thy word have I hidden in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Our scripture text makes a profound statement as it relates to the
purpose and importance of God's Word as we travel life's journey. Our scripture
text also supports verse 105 which states that the Word of God serves as a
light which lights our way. 2 Timothy 3:16 also speak to the purpose of
scripture as all are given for the benefit of mankind and especially all who
want to walk in holiness which is in the light of Christ our Savior.
God's Word contains a set of instructions, laws and commandments
providing directions, which is the purpose of a roadmap. One could say that
God's Word is a how to manual for holy living. His Word outlines our relationship
to Him and one another as outlined in Exodus 20:3-17.
It is a blessing to have God's Word directing our paths which leaves no
doubt as to how one is to live. All who live according to God's Word is blessed
beyond measure as there is a close relationship between God and the believer
(vv 1-7).
God providing His how to manual-His Word is a testament to His love and
compassionate cared and when adhered to our way becomes bright and smooth as
many of life's pitfalls is avoided.
The benefit of hiding God's Word in our hearts establishes a close
personal relationship with our heavenly Father as the heart is one's personal
library.
The Bible is our heavenly roadmap.
