He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
What is this Psalm saying? First, it is conveying a powerful confession of one's faith and complete trust in God Almighty. The person has committed him or herself to the Lord and is trusting in God to supply all his or her needs as recorded in Philippians 4:19 regardless of the lack.
Second, this Psalm is confirming that the Lord is our true protector for He knows where the pitfalls are and will guide us around the pitfalls of life. As our God, He is our refuge and fortress, which are signs of protection.
Third, the Psalm provides assurances that yes God will deliver us from the nuances of life that occur, which are designed to cast doubt in our faith and trust in God.
Four, the Psalm assures us that yes God will protect us and the methods He uses in protecting His people. God is the unseen hands that hold all creation in the hollow of His hand and the unseen eye that never sleeps because He sees all; knows and is everywhere.
That being said, there is no need to worry, be fearful of terror day or night because God is with us; therefore, be of good cheer because God is our true protector.
