And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
This verse describes Jonah being in the belly of
the big fish and crying out to God and God hearing his cry for help. What does
this say for all humanity when we cry out to God? It assures us that no matter
where we are and cry out to God, He hears and will answer our cries.
David said in Psalm 139:8 states, If I ascend up
into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
This verse verifies that there is no escaping God, for He is everywhere.
Cry out to God with assurances that He hears and
will answer our prayers just as He did Jonah. We are never out of the reach of
God’s outstretched arms and listening ears.
