Matthew 2:1
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of
Judea in the days of Herod the King, behold, there came wise men from the east
to Jerusalem.
Continuing our discussion on Christ's birth; today's focus is Christ
being visited by the wise men from the east. This because all had been
expecting the coming Messiah and news of His birth has spread across the nation
like wild fire. The Wise men hearing of Christ's birth was no exception and
they traveled a great distance to see the Christ child; rightly so as these men
were religious educated men who like others of their day had believed the
promise of the coming Messiah and with the grand announcement being made by the
angels and worshiped by the heavenly host created a desire and determination to
witness and worship this great wonder firsthand.
These questions come to mind; given the great expectation of the coming
Messiah and when His arrival is announced would you travel to see the Savior,
the new born King of Kings? Upon arriving at His birth place what would you
give as expressions of gratitude to the Father for sending His Son to save
mankind? How would you worship the King, with heartfelt praises, the singing of
hymns and in songs?
What gifts would you bring to honor the new born King? Whatever gift
you give is in remembrance of the greatest gift ever given and
received-salvation.
