Luke 2:10
And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for behold I bring you good
tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
As we continue our discussions on the birth of Christ; today's focus is
the angels making the grand announcement informing the world that on this day
Christ our Lord and Savior is born and there is great joy to all people.
The angels first appeared to the shepherds who were abiding in the fields
tending their flock and the angels proceeded to state their reason for
appearing. The angels' announcement confirmed that the prophesied Christ was
born and the entire world should rejoice. This is because Christ's birth had
been prophesied many generations ago, but in God the Father's own time He
fulfilled that promise. Christ's birth also confirmed God the Father's
faithfulness of keeping His promises.
There were great joy in that the Savior had come as many died looking for
the promised Messiah. Great joy was felt throughout the land and even the stars
in heaven shinned brightly and a star guided worshippers to where the Christ
child was.
As we celebrate this Christmas let us remember why the celebration; let
great joy rule our hearts and actions while thanking God for sending His only
begotten Son to redeem man and restore a broken fellowship. During our
celebratory manner let us remember that Christ is the reason for our
celebration just at it was for the angels and the heavenly host at the time of
His birth.
Just as the angels announced Christ's birth let us tell the world that
our Savior lives.
