Micah 6:8
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good, and what doth the Lord
require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with
thy God?
God outlines the three things that
are required from His people in our walk with Him, and they are:
Do justly which is to be fair and
honest with our fellowman in whatever dealings we may have with the person.
This brings into focus the Golden Rule of treating others as you would have
them treat you.
God's second requirement as outlined
in this scripture is to love mercy as His love, grace and mercy is at the root
of Him saving man from eternal damnation. Justice was demanded, but mercy took
its place by Jesus Christ our Savior's atonement of man's sins through His shed
blood on Calvary 's cross. As an expression of
gratitude we are encouraged to offer praises unto God continually.
Lastly, our scripture text says
that we are to walk humbly unto God. This is accomplished by living in
obedience to God's laws and commandments. We are to remain in union with our
Savior Jesus Christ while yielding control to His Spirit the Holy Spirit.
Christ
Jesus is our perfect example to living as God requires.
