Revelation 22:16
I Jesus have sent mine angels to testify unto you these things in the
churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning
star.
Our
lesson text is Christ's invitation to salvation as He is speaking to the
churches of all generations. It is God's desire that all be saved and spend
eternity with Him; however, many will reject Christ's salvation invitation be
lost.
Our
text begins with Christ sending His angels to the churches to testify of Him
and who He is. It was prophesied that the Messiah would come through the
lineage of David and this prophecy was fulfilled at Christ's birth. Christ was
God in the flesh that came to redeem man from his sins through His shed blood
on Calvary's cross.
Christ
further instructs the angels to identify Him as the bright and morning star
because He is God in the second person who shines the brightness of the Father.
His star cannot be dimmed nor does He need help from the sun to show forth His
glory.
In
verse 13, Christ identifies Himself as Alpha and Omega, the first and the last,
the beginning and the end; therefore there is no other way to God the Father,
but by Christ our Lord and Savior.
Churches
collectively and believers individually, let us continue inviting the lost to
Christ by testifying of His goodness until He returns to establish His earthly
kingdom.
God's
glory shines bright as the morning star.
