These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
As
I pondered what to write this morning, being that I am experiencing writer’s
block, I reverted to scriptures used in the Sunday school lesson for today’s
message.
This
passage of scripture shows that prayers are important and have great power. Jesus
demonstrated the power and the importance of prayer as He prayed for Himself,
His disciples, and the world.
Following
Jesus’ example of intercessory prayer, then we must always pray for others and
self; there is power in prayer. We know that God hears and answers prayer. This
fact is based on Biblical scriptures and personal experience of God answering
prayers. Therefore, in our prayer lives, we must seek God with a sincere heart,
in faith, believing in our prayers. We must be willing to align our will with
that of God’s as His choice is superior to ours.
Why
am I writing about prayer? It is because our nation needs healing. There is
much division in our country. We see the ugliness of hate manifests itself in
different formats, and we wonder why we are all God’s creation. Our best weapon
against the mess that we see is prayer. Therefore, join me in praying that God
touches the hearts and minds of those committing these evil acts.
Prayer
changes things.
