Jeremiah 33:6
Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them and will
reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.
Everything God created was good and in harmony with each other; this give
rise to God being a God of peace. That said we must look at what is meant by
God's peace. God's peace is the absent of calamities, distress, and or
conflict. Whereas on the other had God's peace means perfect harmony with all
creation as well as the feeling of wholeness and well-being. Peace was
destroyed by sin which entered the human race by the disobedience of Adam.
Adam disobeyed God's command forbidding him from eating of the tree
(Genesis 3:1-7), and for the first time they realized their guilt and shame
before a holy God (Genesis 3:8). Sin disrupted God's perfect peace between Him
and humanity, and the animal kingdom. Sin also disrupted the harmonious
relationship between husband (Adam) and wife (Eve). There is hope that one day
God's perfect peace will be restored. This will occur when Jesus Christ our
Lord and Savior returns to rule His kingdom that will be established here on
earth after the old heaven and earth passes away.
How do we know that Christ will restore God's peace? This evidenced in
Luke 2:13-14 when angels and a multitude of heavenly host sang praises to God
saying glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace, good will towards men.
The question now becomes how do we know and have God's peace until total
peace is restored? This is accomplished by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord
and Savior through His atoning work on the cross, and in doing the indwelling
Holy Spirit begins working on our behalf of letting peace rest and rule in our
hearts.
There is no peace like God's peace.
