A New Pledge for The New Year: Ephesians 4:29-32, Joel 2:13 KJV

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice.  And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you (Ephesians 4:29-32 KJV).

And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil (Joel 2:13 KJV).

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying may minister grace unto the hearers.  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you (Ephesians 4:29-32 KJV).

And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil (Joel 2:13 KJV).

We are coming to the close of 2022 and approaching 2023, and with all of the chaos we have witnessed this year, the Holy Spirit led me to write about kindness by providing encouraging scriptures that will aid us in making a change for the new year.

Many will make New Year's resolutions with good intentions to keep them, but many still need to keep what they have pledged to do or what changes they will make.

Given all the hatred spewed out of so many mouths until it makes you wonder what has happened to civility.  Is there no respect for the hearers of the foul language spoken or the hateful acts carried out on our fellow man?  Just what is the problem?

Where did all of the hate, malice, and anger come from?  Ephesians 4:31-32 provides the answer when it states.  Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Instead of all the hatred in whatever form it is portrayed, we are encouraged to be kind, as it takes many formats.  Providing random acts of kindness, we manifest the love of Christ, letting the world know that yes, I may not be what I want to be, but I am not what I used to be because I have committed myself to make a new start in the New Year.

Our new pledge begins in the heart, which manifests in our actions.  A new pledge strategy is supported in Joel 2:13, which tells us to rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

A New Year, a new beginning that begins in the heart.
