Psalm 55:22
Cast
thy burden upon the Lord,
and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
What does it mean to be kept
by God? We will address the question from three perspectives, and they are:
(a) Preservation through His
powers as He preserves all that was created. This is accomplished through His
Son Jesus Christ as recorded in Colossians 1:16-17, “For by him were all things
created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether
they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were
created by him, and for him: Christ is before all things, and by him all things
consists.” These two verses clearly explains who holds everything in place, the
planets in their orbits, the moon and stars in their places and even the
smallest particles of life are held together by Christ.
(b) His provisions in that God
provides for the needs of all life that was created by Him. Reflect with me on
the plants and animals how they are cared for; are humans better than they?
Philippians 4:19, which states, “But my God shall supply all of my needs
according to His riches and glory.”
(c) His involvement in
government we see God ruling this world through His sovereign powers. He allows
the events that have occurred in our history and those that are occurring in
the present are under His permissive will and oversight and at His appointed
time He intervenes to bring about His redemptive purposes in our lives.
There
is surety in being kept by God.
