1 Peter 1:15-16
But as He which that hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all
manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
The
apostle Peter is making an appeal for holy living by all believers as we are
chosen and called by God to be His sons and daughters. Being God's chosen and
His elect we are called into holiness by being spiritually separated from this
world and its value systems as they are contrary to those of God the
Father. Being called into holiness so
that we as believers can and will live in union with Christ our Savior, love
God, do His Will and present our bodies as instruments of righteousness. Being
called into holiness by God mean that believers live to please God. God knew
from the foundation of the world whom His elect would be.
How are believers called into holiness?
Believers are called into holiness by the sanctifying work of Christ our Lord
and Savior who gave His life as a ransom for many, which means all who will accept
God's spiritual invitation of salvation. How do we as believers remain in holy
matrimony to God? This is achieved by the daily renewing of one's spirit by the
Holy Spirit as He infuses us with God's grace. God's grace is as fresh as the
morning dew.
Being
called into holiness becomes a way of life for believers.
