Jesus The Living Word Of God

John 1:1;14; Hebrews 1:1-3

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.

Hebrews 1:1-3 discuss how God in times past has spoken to us through the prophets and the written word, but in these last days He spoke directly to humanity through His Son who is God in the second person.
John 1:1 and 14 let us know that in the beginning, Jesus was with God as creation was taking place as He is the living Word of God and everything that was made was done by Christ. This mean that Jesus Christ had His beginning with God as He was preexistent, with God not when His virgin birth.
Christ being the living Word relates to His Father, the world and humanity. Christ took on humanity as He became flesh and many during His earthly ministry recognized Him as the promised Messiah. Christ becoming flesh is where deity and humanity met as Christ remained sinless while doing the will of His Father-restoring a broken fellowship by providing salvation to all who believe.
Jesus Christ as the living Word of God serves as our high priest as He is seated at the right hand of the Father.
Christ is alive as He is the living Word of God the Father.

Believers Called Into Holiness

1 Peter 1:15-16

But as He which that hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

The apostle Peter is making an appeal for holy living by all believers as we are chosen and called by God to be His sons and daughters. Being God's chosen and His elect we are called into holiness by being spiritually separated from this world and its value systems as they are contrary to those of God the Father.  Being called into holiness so that we as believers can and will live in union with Christ our Savior, love God, do His Will and present our bodies as instruments of righteousness. Being called into holiness by God mean that believers live to please God. God knew from the foundation of the world whom His elect would be.
How are believers called into holiness? Believers are called into holiness by the sanctifying work of Christ our Lord and Savior who gave His life as a ransom for many, which means all who will accept God's spiritual invitation of salvation. How do we as believers remain in holy matrimony to God? This is achieved by the daily renewing of one's spirit by the Holy Spirit as He infuses us with God's grace. God's grace is as fresh as the morning dew.
Being called into holiness becomes a way of life for believers.

"God Of My Salvation"

Psalm 51:14

Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation; and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

What a wonderful declaration? I say this because in this life we encounter situations where it was the Lord who delivered us from the problem and we can say like the Psalmist that God is the God of our salvation. We live in a sinful world where sin surrounds us and will consume us if it weren't for the protective arms of the Almighty God serving as our security blanket (Psalm 91).
Why do God do what He does; because of His love for us (91:14) and because of His love we show our expression of praises by saying thank You God for Your love, grace and mercy that last forever.
Salvation is God's deliverance.

Believers Justified Through Christ

Romans 3:24

Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Today's discussion focus is believers being justified freely by God the Father through the redemptive process of Christ. That being said, being justified or justification is being pardon of one's sins or being found not guilty of a crime. or being found righteous in the eye sight of God the Father. In this setting justified  is being found not guilty of our sins. This is because Christ paid it all. Our sin-debt is marked PAID IN FULL.
Being freely justified by God is His forgiveness gift for the repentant sinner (v.24; Ephesians 2:8). What this mean is that in order for one to receive God's pardon the person must repent. That being said, when God the Father looks at the repentant sinner He sees the righteousness of His Son Jesus. Being justified is so the repentant sinner can spend eternity with God. This is the ultimate expression of God's love for mankind as love is the very nature of God.
Believers, we are sanctified, justified, redeemed and glorified all to the glory of God  through the work of Jesus and  is sustained by the power of God the Holy Spirit.
Let's shout for joy and sing praises to His holy name our sins have been forgiven. Glory to His name.

The Peace Of God

Isaiah 26:3; Jeremiah 33:6

Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee( 26:3. Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto the abundance of peace and truth.

The Bible provides its definition of peace as shalom or the absence of war, conflict, or stress. It also mean the positive presence of harmony, wholeness, soundness, well-being and success in all rears of one's life (KJV).
Peace can and do refer to many different scenarios from nations, to individuals and with respect to the state of calmness that is experienced free from strife, anxieties and confusion. In regards to human peace, it can be seen in the form of peace within one's soul and the person's relationship with God. Also, individual peace can be seen as being comfortable in whatever stage of life one finds him or herself. This bring to mind Paul's assessment of being satisfied whether he had a lot or a little he was comfortable because he knew his God is all sufficient. This is true today for all.
These question come to mind, What is your comfort level in your current stage of life? Are you at peace knowing God is the joy of our salvation and He will restore our peace and bring everlasting joy to our souls? Are you letting the peace of God rest and rule in your heart today even in the midst of trouble?
The peace of God surpasses man's peace.

When Do You Feel God Is Angry?

Romans 3:9-19

Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit, he poison of asps is under their lips; Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; Their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and misery are in their ways; and the way of peace have they not known; there is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things so ever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Abstract

This article takes an reflective look at God's anger and why He became angry. God pronounced the whole world guilty because of sin and no one feared Him or gave Him His reverence.
Is God angry with the world today? The answer is a resounding yes. This is witnessed by nature how the forces of nature is displaying God's anger. Just as God pronounced the whole world guilty during the Bible days, He has done the same thing today and sin have become prevalent just as it was then. Nature is putting on a magnificent display of God's anger with the many disasters that is being witnessed  the world over.
Same-sex marriages is a abomination against God and it is raging in these United States as many states have legalized marriage between same-sex couples. Greed and murder is common place in the US and around the world. God is not pleased.

To answer our discussion question of when do you feel God is angry can be answered by saying He is angry and it is on display. It was displayed this winter when here in the USA when all of the 52 states experienced freezing weather. When was the last time the Southern states experienced the snow, rain, sleet and ice as they did this season. It was so devastating that it caused chaos on the highways that left many stranded for days. In the north many states have experienced 66+ straight days of below freezing weather with record breaking snow totals. While many parts of the US experienced subzero weather parts of California experienced the worse drought ever.
During last year's summer season many parts of the country experienced devastating drought conditions. Our food supply was threatened and with California's current drought condition its water supply is threaten. Forest fires are becoming more dangerous and widespread. There have been earth quakes in places that normally doesn't get them. What do you call this other than God displaying His anger?
God said in His Word that He would speak to us in different ways and places. He is doing just that. God's anger will be displayed with much worse devastations if man doesn't turn from his evil ways. 2 Chronicles 7:14 speaks to God's willingness to heal our land, but there are four conditions that man has to meet and they are (a) Humble themselves, (b) pray, (c) seek God's face, and (d) turn from their wicked ways, then God will heal this land because He would have heard man's cry for restoration. God will forgive sin as He is a forgiving God. In His forgiving He will heal this land. God is faithful to His promises. If healing is promised then it will happen, if judgment is promised then that too will happen.
Let us take the discussion of God's anger being felt to another level from the stand point of same-sex marriages, which have become prevalent in this country and God is not please. This is because marriage is an institution established by God Himself between a man and a woman. Today we see many courts overturning the true definition of marriage as established by God and for this God is going to bring plagues and raise us prehistoric creatures from the sea and earth to get our attention. God is not going to allow man to destroy the beauty of His creations and institutions. Marriage is holy unto God and He places a high value on the family.
We are beginning to see sea creatures being washed up from the sea that had been dormant for years. Who is to say a dinosaur egg that's been lying dormant in the earth for many years and at God's appointed time will come alive?
Let us take a reflective look at how God punished sin in the Bible days after constant warning the people to repent and turn from their wicked ways. The Israelites was led into captivity and remained there for 70 years. He punished Pharaoh by drowning him in the Red Sea for oppressing the nation of Israel. He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of their sins. Being that the United States have become the new face of Sodom and Gomorrah what make us think God isn't going to punish us for our sinful ways.
God is angry with America and the whole world and it is being felt daily. His punishment is sure to rain down upon us like a torrent rain storm.

Abide In God's Word

John 8:31

....If ye continue in My word, then are ye My disciples indeed.

If the question was raised, How do believers abide in God's Word? This is achieved by daily Bible reading, meditating on the Word, and then committing one's self to obeying the Word as well as yielding self control to the indwelling Holy Spirit. In addition to the above instructions to abiding in God's Word, one must remain in union with Christ as He is our Savior, High Priest, and intercessor.
This brings into focus the discussion of the branch and vine being joined together (John 15:1-10) where the branch cannot bear fruit in and of itself. The branch bears fruit as long as it remains connected to the vine and the necessary ingredients flows through. The vine that connects the branch and the vine is Christ.
The branch-believers must remain connected to the vine Jesus by abiding in His Word and in doing so the person bears godly fruit by witnessing Christ, living godly lives for the world to see Christ manifested in you and I and serving others glorifying God.
Believers remain connected to Christ the vine by hiding God's Word in our hearts and allowing His Spirit to control our thoughts and decision-making, obeying God's commandments while remaining in His love as well as maintaining a clean and godly life by resisting sin.
Believers draw near to God by remaining connected to the vine-Christ. Abide in God's Word.

Prayer

Ephesians 6:18

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Our Tuesday's message focus was Fasting, but today's I was led by the Holy Spirit to refocus on  prayer because we have discussed prayer in earlier sessions. Prayer is our communication with God whether we are praising Him, asking Him for something or simply listening to Him. Prayer is a phenomenon that has been a part of man's life since the beginning of time and will remain so as man feel the need to communicate with his God.
There is power in prayer and one must believe in his or her prayers. This is because faith is the key to answered prayers. Just a little faith the size of a mustard seed we can and will accomplish much through prayer. I have often heard when you pray don't worry and if you worry don't pray, because when you worry after praying is exhibiting a lack of faith in what we have prayed for. Remember, God is all powerful, He is everywhere, and can do anything but fail; therefore, pray in faith knowing that He hears while believing that He will answer. We are encouraged to have an active prayer life; in doing so we establish a closer walk with God thereby establishing an intimate relationship with Him.
We have the ACTS of prayer and they are Adoration, which is offering praises to God and adoring Him for who He is and His wonder working powers. Confession is confessing one's sins while asking for forgiveness. Then there is the Thanksgiving of prayer which is thanking God for all that He has done and continues to do in our lives as His goodness continues for generations to come. There is the Supplication of prayer which is petitioning God for self or others. Lastly, we have specialty prayers which are making a special request to God for self or someone else. Regardless of the reason, have faith.
Prayer is a powerful weapon in any situation.  Use your weapon in faith.

Fasting

Matthew 6:16

...When ye fast, be not as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance, for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily, I say unto you, they have their reward.

Some may wonder why am I discussing fasting; well, we have discussed a litany of topics, but to my remembrance never fasting its discipline or the abstention from food for spiritual purposes. Some fast to lose weight. Some fast during a set aside prayer time, and then there are those who fast regularly. That said, fast is often linked together with prayer, but it is a spiritual discipline in and of itself and is considered a continuous prayer without words.
There are the three main forms of fast and they are:
a.     The normal fast, which is abstaining from food, solid or liquid except water.
b.  The absolute fast, which is abstaining from food and water (Esther 4:16; Acts 9:9). It is recommended that this fast should not be undertaken for more than three days. This is because the kidneys will began to shut down and the body become dehydrated. The Bible records Moses and Elijah undertook this fast but with supernatural conditions (Exodus 34:28; Deuteronomy 9:9,18; 1 Kings 19:8). Christ Himself fasted 40 days in the wilderness where He was tempted by Satan, but was able to withstand Satan's temptations. Christ also taught that fasting should be part of Christians' devotion and in preparation for His return. The church in acts practiced fasting (Acts 13:2-3; 14:23, 27:33).
c.    The partial fast is centered more on diets than a complete abstention from food (Daniel 10:3).
Let's look at some purposes for fasting and determine if your and my reason (s) for fasting is among them and they are: (a) We fast to honor God. (b) to humble ourselves before Him, (c) to experience more of God's grace and His presence, (d) to mourn over personal sin and failure as well as sins in the church and the world, (e) to seek God's grace for a new task or to reaffirm one's consecration to God, (f) to draw closer to God while persisting in prayer against the contrasting forces in this world, (g) to show repentance and avoid God impending judgment, (h) to save people from the bondage of sin and evil as we make intercessory prayer, (i) to gain insight to God's wisdom, and receive an outpouring of His Spirit upon you (above is quoted and  paraphrase from KJV Commentary).
For me my prayer and fast align with all of the above and I feel better after each fast, which is once a week.
Fasting is Biblically sound, was practiced and encouraged by Christ Himself and the NT church in Acts as well as many churches today.
