John 15:16
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you that you
should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that
whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it you.
Our
scripture text makes a powerful statement in regards to believers being the
chosen of God. This verse makes it very plain that we as believers were chosen
and ordained by God as His special people for a special purpose, which is
through our powerful witnessing we bring others to Christ. It is noteworthy to
say that as we witness Christ we are operating in the power of the Holy Spirit.
He gives believers the boldness needed to stand firm in the face of opposition
while witnessing Christ.
Believers'
fruit bearing is our spiritual virtues as outlined in Galatians 5:22-23. This
is because the Holy Spirit refreshes us daily with a fresh supply of God's love
and the ability to be tolerant of others. Just as God is longsuffering with us
we must also be with our fellowman. This
is fruit bearing.
The
overall purpose of believers being fruit bearers is the conversion of lost
souls to Christ (John 4:36; 12:24). This
is kingdom building. Let's be reminded of Christ's earthly ministry where
He stated the well didn't need a doctor, but the sick does. The spiritually
sick still needs Dr. Jesus-He is still healing sick souls.
Believers,
we are chosen and ordained by God to convert the sin sick of this world.
