1 Peter 2:5
Ye also as lively stones are built up a
spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices,
acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
Peter is informing the hearers of
his day just who we are as believers with royal blood flowing in our veins. We
are special in the eye sight of God being that all believers were chosen by God
before the foundation of the world. God knew from the foundation of the world
who would hear and accept His spiritual invitation to salvation and spend
eternity with Him.
Believers are royal sons and daughters of God by the atoning work of
Christ our Savior and members of a holy nation of priests (v. 5).
Being royal sons and daughters of God believers are to offer our bodies
as living sacrifices unto Him while being nonconforming to this world and it
values (Romans 12:1-2). Being royal sons and daughters of God we present our
bodies as instruments of righteousness manifesting the righteousness of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As royal sons and daughters of God, believers
proclaim the gospel of Christ the world over as well as offer praises unto His
holy name.
Believers, we are the lively stones of God built up in Christ who is
the head (v.5).
