Genesis 3:1-24
Now the serpent was more subtle (subtil) that any beast of the field
which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea hath God said, Ye,
shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
This chapter
deals man's failure in his obedience to God with the serpent using the woman to
attack God's creation. The serpent used God's own words but twisted them to
make them believable to Eve. The serpent created doubt in Eve's mind by telling
her that even though God said she would die if she ate from the tree of
knowledge she wouldn't die, which was a lie.
What does this say for Eve and all
humanity? It says when you know the truth of God's Word stand firm on His
Word, because His Word is what will judge all humanity. Another school of
thought is that when you know the truth let no one place doubt in your heart
and mind. When there is doubt search the scripture, because the Holy Scriptures
is where the truth is found.
The other epic
lie Satan told was that they would be as gods with the ability to decide what
is good and evil, which would allow man to live independently from God our
Creator. Man wasn't created in the image and likeness of God to live
independently from God. Man failed to remember who his creator was and his sustainer
is. Man is breathing because of God. His very existence is because of God; His
love, grace and mercy.
Man's
failure was an opportunity for Jesus Christ to restore man to wholeness.
