Rich Through God's Grace

Ephesians 2:7

That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness towards us through Christ Jesus.

Today's lesson study speaks of the time when God provides salvation to all who believe on His Son Jesus Christ and the richness received because of God's grace. It is well documented that all who believe is saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ and this happens because of God's love and kindness toward all mankind. Only the repentant hearts get to receive the many blessings that come with being saved.

Believers are rich because we were first called by God and second consecrated back to God and now have a right standing with Him as our sins has been forgiven as all believers have been redeemed from a life of sin. Believers are rich in God's grace in that believers have the promise of eternal life which is living in the presence of God forever and have been made spiritually alive (1 Corinthians 1:13), whereas before we were dead to sin and under Satan's control. Being rich in God's grace believers have the Holy Spirit who is God living on the inside as He imparts His wisdom and knowledge as He serves as our guide, teacher and protector.
Because of God's grace believers have immeasurable riches.

Living In God's Righteousness

Romans 3:21-22

..Now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe; for there is no difference;

Today's lesson study makes two profound statements in that the righteousness of God is His redemptive activity as it relates to human sin and God putting mankind in a right relationship with Him (v. 26) and is based on one's faith in Jesus Christ. Restoring man into a right relationship with God is liberating man from the clutches of sin which if a persons remains in sin has a devastating consequence.

Let's be clear, there is no salvation without faith in Jesus Christ as God's righteousness was manifested even without the law. There was no salvation in the law, but the law pointed to the need for a Savior as mankind lacked the ability to keep the law; only Jesus Christ. With that being said, for mankind to live in the righteousness of God one must have faith in Jesus Christ and accept Him as Lord and Savior as He is God's Son who met God's requirements to be the Savior.

To live in God's righteousness is where one's faith and God's grace merges. This is because one's faith is essential to receiving God's grace which He freely gives to all believers. To live in God's righteousness is an open invitation that extends through the ages.
Believe and receive God's righteousness.

Jesus Christ Our Hope

Jeremiah 17:7-8

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Today's scripture text makes a profound statement regarding the surety of our hope which is in Jesus Christ. The prophet Jeremiah use the analogy of a tree that is planted by the water as water is a symbol of the Holy Spirit and is a necessary ingredient to sustain life. This is true of spiritual life and all life forms-living kingdoms.

Another point our scripture makes is that the believer whose hope rest in the Lord and when trouble (drought) comes there is no worry because his or her hope is in the Lord and all those whose hope is in Jesus Christ can and will continue to bear fruit, which is to continue growing and maturing in the Lord. This is because the tap root (the Holy Spirit) of the tree (believer) runs deep into the soul of the believer. Jesus Christ, a sure and everlasting hope.

Allow me to summarize today's lesson by saying that if your hope rest in Jesus Christ regardless of situations the believer continues to flourish and the believer's life looks like a beautiful tree with its leaves arrayed in greenery.
Hope in Jesus Christ a sure foundation.

Rejoice In God's Salvation

Isaiah 25:8-9

And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us; this is the Lord; we have waited for Him, we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.

Verse 8 provides evidence for all believers' reasons to rejoice in God's salvation because it speaks to Christ's victory over death and when believers get to heaven all tears will be gone as there will be no troubles to endure. Also, this verse alludes to the time spoken of in Revelation when God will have removed pain and suffering and believers will have transformed bodies like Christ our Savior.

This promise will be fulfilled when Christ returns to earth in triumph over sin and death and begin His reign over all creation and the consummation of salvation for all believers. All believers are encouraged to wait expectantly for Christ's return to see the fulfillment of His promise. The Lord is faithful to His promises and there is no exception.

Let's look at the believer's rejoicing in God's salvation from the point of view of Him being the loving parent who realizes the struggles His people would have endured for being identified with Christ; therefore, God will make sure the struggles believers endured while here on earth will be no more. There will be only joy, praise and worship as the day will never end.
Believers, rejoice in God's salvation as He has wrapped us in His righteousness through the Holy Spirit-God.

"Alive Unto God Through Jesus Christ"

Romans 6:10-11

For in that He died, He died unto sin once; but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our lesson study makes a profound statement regarding all believers fait as it relates to being alive in Christ as He paid the penalty of our sin-debt. This was a one-time atonement that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ performed unlike those of the Old Testament priests, and all who believe in Jesus died once to sin with Him and rose once to a life of righteousness with Christ. This life is lived unto God our Father through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This was all made possible through Christ's suffering and undergirded by love of the Father and the Son. All believers are kept alive by the indwelling Holy Spirit who is God. This is to restore a broken fellowship that was destroyed in the Garden of Eden and with this restored fellowship believers can now live in harmony with God a life of righteousness. What a blessing!

Let's close today's discussion by posing these thought provoking questions, Is there any other God that would give His best to reconcile man back to Himself just so that His prize creation can live in harmony with Him and possess the righteous nature as He does? Is there any other God who would impart His Spirit in us so that we will know Him and love Him? Only the God of creation would do so.
Yes, I am alive through Jesus Christ.

The Chosen Of God

Ephesians 1:4

According as He has chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love;

Today's lesson text is a powerful testimony to God's love and Him being all knowing as our scripture text explains the believer's election in Christ. This also speaks to God's choice of who will believe and accept His Son Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world as well as knowing before creation that He would form Him a special people who would live holy lives unto Him.

With that being said, God knew who would believe in His Son before the foundation of the world. It is noteworthy to say that Christ is the first elect of God as He was before all and everything exist through Him. It is through the believer's union with Christ that believers become the elect of God through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. God forming His peculiar people on a corporate level would be called the bride of Christ, His church, or a called out nation of people.

Also being the chosen of God is to salvation and holiness in and through Christ our Savior. Being the chosen or the elect of God is offered to all, but becomes a reality with each individual's repentant faith in Jesus Christ.
Being the chosen of God carries many blessings.

Unified In Love

Psalm 133:1

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.

I was led to today's topic because I witness so many disparaging words being hurdled toward many of our brothers and sisters until I wonders where is the love of God in these people. If a survey was conducted most likely all would say they are believers, well our scripture text informs us that there is goodness and pleasantness for dwelling in unity and our scripture text is corroborated in 1 Corinthians 1:10-13 where the apostle Paul made an appeal for unity among the brethren. This is because all mankind is linked through the Spirit of God as He breathed the breath of life into us and all believers have the Holy Spirit residing in each of us.
Let me close by saying, even though we may be different on the outside we are all the same on the inside and are linked through God's Spirit; therefore, the unifying factor for all mankind is love. More importantly, if someone says they love God and despise his or her fellowman then there is no truth in them as we are commanded to love one another (1 John 4:7).
True love conqueror's all.

A Time For Everything

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

To every thing there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven.

A we celebrated the official close of summer and enter into the autumn season of the year, we can reflect on how our personal and spiritual lives is in seasons and each season of life has a distinct purpose designed by God the Father.
Regardless of what season of life we are in we are to glorify God as we present ourselves as holy sacrifices to God. This is accomplished by yielding self control to the indwelling Holy Spirit as He is there to help us fulfill God's purpose in our lives.
Living in the beauty of our current season, believers will display the beautiful array of colorful fruit of spiritual growth.
